Online Resumes Could Be The Start Of Something Amazing

By Paul Wilson

It seems insane that nowadays we plan out our entire lives from such a young age. Before we even know who we are we have picked out the subject that will lead us to our lifelong careers. It is so hard to make the right decision when you are so young and even if you do make the right decision, things change. So it is no wonder that at some point in our lives we are faced with a career change beginning with online resumes.

For most of us, our job is where we spend most of our time and it is very important that it is a satisfying and rewarding place. There are always hard times and challenges to overcome, but overall it should be a place you look forward to going to and time well spent. If you don't feel that way now, think about what you really want to do with your time.

A good starting point when you are trying to make a change but don't know what to do, is to make a list of everything you can do. Write down all your training and qualifications and all your experience. If you had a part time job when you were younger that is even vaguely related to what you want to do now it will help you to get your foot in the door.

Sometimes you don't need to leave your current employer and find a completely new career to be happy. It might just be that you need a change and to challenge yourself more. There may be a different career path with the same employer, or simply further training that will give you the push and new perspective to find joy in your job again.

When you start submitting your resume online there are a few things to consider to ensure you have the best chance of getting an interview. Depending on what job you apply for there is likely to be a large amount of competition, so you need to consider the quality of your application. It is also a good idea to focus on quantity and apply for as many jobs as possible.

The resume needs to be spot on yet concise. The recruitment agent looks through so many a day that they know how to skim through for the important details. Make their day easier by giving them exactly what they are looking for quickly and easily. Reduce the word count and focus on clear presentation and you are more likely to succeed.

Try to prepare for all eventualities before the interview. They will ask you about your past experience, training and interests in relation to the job and it looks much better if you have the answers ready to go. If you do not know something, be honest but express interest in it to show that you are willing to learn.

Whether you want to change your career completely or just undertake further training to keep challenging yourself, confidence will help you. If you believe that you are capable of whatever you are trying to do, you are much more likely to succeed. Talk to yourself in the same way that you would talk to a friend, by being positive and encouraging.
